Bizwoman pacifying fracas shot dead in Cadiz City


BACOLOD CITY – A 52-year-old businesswoman was accidentally shot dead by her live-in partner during a commotion in front of a convenience store in Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Police Lt. Col. John Joel Batusbatusan, Cadiz police chief, identified the fatality as Hydiolyn of Barangay Daga.

Batusbatusan said the victim's 42-year-old live-in partner confronted 31-year-old John about their past falling out.

The suspect allegedly drew a firearm and shot John in the left hip.

The suspect fired another shot that hit the victim as she intervened and covered John.

Recovered from the crime scene was an empty  .45 caliber shell.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

The suspect fled and the subject of a manhunt.
