Senate enforces stringent security measures after bomb threat

Tight security measures were enforced in the Senate on Wednesday, December 18, after information was received that a bomb threat was targeting the office in Pasay City.

In a statement released by Senate spokesperson Atty. Arnel Jose S. Bañas, it was posted through a comment on its social media account on Tuesday, December 17.

While the threat is not considered credible and serious, the Senate leadership has taken precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all senators, employees, and visitors.

The Senate Office of the Sergeant-At-Arms (OSAA) has implemented additional security measures since yesterday, December 17, 2024. As a safeguard, the Senate premises had been thoroughly inspected by security and police personnel.

"We had also instructed our Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms to work closely with concerned agencies regarding the matter," Bañas said.

"The safety and security of everyone in the Senate is our utmost priority. Please bear with us while we enforce safeguard measures. Updates will be provided as they become available," he added.
