After completing his redemption tour with the UP Fighting Maroons to bag the UAAP Season 87 crown, the 24-year-old Cagulangan follows the steps of his De La Salle rival Kevin Quiambao as they bring their acts to the Korean soil after a fierce finals clash.

The former La Salle Greenhills star is joining the SonicBoom, who currently hold a 10-8 card at fourth place in the KBL standings.

Quiambao, on the other hand, landed on Goyan Sono Skygunners, who have a 5-13 slate at the bottom of the 10-team league.

The pride of Butuan City earned the Finals MVP plum and was part of this year’s Mythical Five after leading the State U to its second title in four years and its fourth overall in the country’s premier collegiate league.

It can be remembered that Cagulangan etched his name in UP history after hitting a game-winning trey in Game 3 finals of Season 84 that ended the Maroons’ 36-year championship drought as they beat the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
