Stroke patient, 62, dies in Bulacan fire


A stroke patient died in a fire that hit a two-story residential building in Marilao, Bulacan, on Monday, Dec. 16.

The body of the victim, identified as Emecita Sotto Orosco, 62, was discovered after the fire.

Retired Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) officer, reported the incident to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The fire started at around 11:17 p.m. and was declared under control at 11:36 p.m.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 11:54 p.m.

Only one family was affected by the fire.

The estimated damage to propterty was placed at around P500,000.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Marilao City Mayor Henry Lutao quickly visited the scene to assist the victims, delivering boxes containing goods and survival kits to help meet their immediate needs.
