Health Alliance (Heal PH) Party-list and cardiologist Dr. Willie Ong are teaming up for the upcoming 2025 mid-term elections for the purpose of ensuring that healthcare services are accessible to all Filipinos, especially the poorest oof the poor families.

Inspired by the legacy of the late Senator Dr. Juan Flavier, Heal PH is led by his son and its first nominee, Dr. Jondi Flavier.

Flavier is joined by former Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Eric Tayag and
former Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary
Major General Bennie de Leon, as the second and third nominees, respectively.

Ong, a health advocate who ran for vice president in the 2022 national elections, is gunning for a seat in the Senate.

The Manifesto of Solidarity and Collaboration was formally launched and signed by Atty. Gilbert Lauengco, Chief of Staff for Dr. Willie Ong, last Dec. 12, at Spices Restaurant, The Peninsula Manila, Makati City.

Citing the campaign message of "Let's DOH it again”--a callback to the late Flavier's famous catchphrase-- both Ong and Heal PH are committed to advance the principles of Primary Health Care, as specified in the 1978 Alma Ata Declaration, and to fully supporting the Universal Health Care Act of 2019.

Their shared vision is to advocate for free medicine, medicinal operations, laboratory tests, and correct health advice for underserved Filipino communities.

“These initiatives will be focused on urban poor communities and remote barangays, ensuring that those who need help the most receive the care they deserve,” Heal PH said in a statement.

A key part of Heal PH and Ong’s platform is the promotion of health cards with unlimited medical coverage

These seek to provide essential healthcare services from basic care to specialized treatments.

“These cards will not only save lives but will also help combat fraud in healthcare facilities,” they said.

Rather than focusing on new investments, they will also prioritize optimizing and modernizing existing resources to improve government health infrastructure.

Heal PH and Ong also pledged to support the DOH and local government units (LGUs) in recruiting, training, and deploying more young doctors and health workers to underserved areas, continuing the program initiated by late Senator Flavier in 1993.

They are also committed to implementing strict penalties for the misappropriation of public health funds, including making such offenses non-bailable.
