KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA -- Duane “Kelra” Pillas not only has crowned himself as world champion but he made sure to do it in the most emphatic fashion.
The Filipino star gold laner just embraced the wild cheers and the bright lights as he powered Fnatic Onic Philippines to a convincing 4-1 victory against Team Liquid Indonesia to reign supreme in the M6 World Championships at the Axiata Arena here on Sunday, Dec. 15.
After a pair of dominant performances in the first two games, Kelra saw five of his hero picks banned in the pivotal Game 4 but was hardly bothered and still starred on his Beatrix – highlighting the series long brilliance for the Filipino star who emerged as the Finals MVP.
He unloaded a blistering 8-0-5 KDA on the Beatrix – spearheading a massive 21-1 victory in Game 4 and put the Filipinos on the championship point.
There was simply no looking back for the Philippine representatives from there as they essayed a huge clincher in Game 5 with Kelra ,on the Irithel pick, locking onto the Liquid ID base even after three of their players went down in the final clash.
Onic PH, also composed of King "K1NGKONG" Perez, Frince "Super Frince" Ramirez, Jann "Kirk" Guttierrez, Borris "Brusko" Parro, Brain "SpiderMilez" Santos and coached by Tony "Ynot" Senedrin and Jeniel "YellyHaze" Bata-anon, also copped its very first M-series title after falling short in their previous two tries and the Philippines' fifth-straight.
The Filiino simply ran roughshod over the Indonesians with Kelra melting down turrets one after the other for FNOP to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.
And even when he was forced to go on a team fight, the veteran gold laner was untouchable and safely dished out the damage from afar with Brusko, K1NGKONG and Kirk providing a solid front line during the team fights
That was exactly in the case in the series opener when Kelra starred in a big clash for the first Lord, scoring a triple kill on the Bruno pick to key the crew’s wipeout of TLID.
FNOP never looked back from there and pounced on TLID with a 16-7 victory with Kelra scoring a 7-1-5 line while K1NGKONG had a neat 5-0-5 line on the Suyou.
That was pretty much the same story in Game 2 except that Kirk and K1NGKONG’s Edith and Suyou pick were changed to a Cici and Fredrinn.
However, that hardly changed the outcome as FNOP took complete control of the contest beginning from a 6th minute wipe of TLID en route to a 13-5 win in Game 2 in just 11 minutes.
Kelra had a perfect run with a 6-0-5 KDA still on the Bruno while K1NGKONG provided the setups with a 0-0-9 KDA on the Fredrinn pick.
Team Liquid came alive in the third stanza largely behind the activity of Aldhia “Aran” Aranda’s Hilda pick which contained Kelra’s Harith .
With Aeronnshikii also getting the space to farm on his Granger, on top of the Curse of Blood ultimate of the Carmilla, the Indonesians dominated the team fight to finally get on the board with a 17-9 win.
