To boost the city's sustainability efforts, the San Juan City local government launched the Wilson e-trike system aimed at introducing another environment-friendly mode of transportation to commuters on Monday, Dec. 16.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora led the launch of the e-trike system together with other city government officials following the opening of the Greenhills-West Crame Connector Road which provides motorists an alternative route in the city, thus mitigating traffic.
Zamora said the public transport initiative aims to provide commuters with an alternative and eco-friendly mode of transport to and from Unimart Greenhills and Polytechnic of the University of the Philippines (PUP) San Juan.
The Wilson e-trike system will have four pickup and drop-off points: Unimart Greenhills, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, G Square and PUP-San Juan. This will cover the following areas: Club Filipino Drive, Wilson Street, P. Guevarra Street, Ortega Street, and Mabini Street.
“The Wilson e-trike system will provide convenience to students, employees and patients of Cardinal Santos Medical Center, and Greenhills Mall shoppers,” Zamora said.
“The use of electric vehicles is also our step towards a more environmentally friendly city. The city is in the heart of Metro Manila, as such, we are very happy to finally do this and help our kababayans traveling in or just passing through San Juan,” he added.
As a Christmas gift to all, the Wilson e-trike will be free of charge to all commuters from Dec. 16 to 31.
Starting Jan. 1, 2025, the fare rate will be P9 for the first kilometer and P1 for every succeeding kilometer.
