Japan's strawberries soon to enter PH market—envoy

Japanese strawberries, known around the world for their sweet taste, will soon be available in Philippine domestic markets, Japanese Ambassador to Manila Endo Kazuya said.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, Dec. 14, the envoy shared about a new agreement between the Philippines and Japan that would finally welcome the entry of Japanese strawberries into the country.

“Big news for strawberry lovers! Starting 15 Dec., Japan’s juicy & sweet strawberries will finally make their way from (Japan flag to Philippine flag emojis)!,” he announced.

“Thanks to the agreement between MAFF (Japan’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries) & PH authorities, these berry-delicious exports are good to go! Who’s excited for this fruity milestone?,” the ambassador added.

He also posted a photo of Japan’s red strawberries courtesy of the MAFF.

Japan, renowned for its fruit production, uses cutting-edge technology to create new varieties of strawberries, as well as develop unique cultivation methods.

The high demand for strawberries in Japan pushed the government to ensure that the fruits are of the highest standards, which caused Japanese strawberries to be seen as some of the best in the world.

They are known particularly for their deep red color, juiciness, sweetness, and size.
