Working student drowns in Quezon

REAL, Quezon â€“ A 19-year-old working student drowned in the sea of Purok 1, Barangay Tignoan, this town, on Dec. 11.

Police identified the victim as Reymond Jeorge de Leon, single, from Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.

Investigation said the De Leon was swimming alone when he struggled floating due to huge waves and strong underwater current.

His companions on the shore rescued him and he was taken to a hospital in Infanta, Quezon where he was declared dead due to asphyxia secondary to drowning.

The incident was reported to the police two days later on Dec. 13 by the victim's brother.
