Police commanders in the National Capital Region are expected to join their men on the streets for Christmas season duty after the top cop of Metro Manila has declared that he will be on the ground as part of the security measures for this year’s Holidays.
Police Brig. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin, director of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), said he will be joined by other ranking officials of the Metro Manila police force in ensuring that the security measures discussed during the planning would be properly implemented.
“It will be a comprehensive security coverage to respond to all peace and security issues, with senior officials of NCRPO doing their rounds to closely supervise the deployment and at the same time, ensure that the welfare of our police officers on the ground is also prioritized,” said Aberin.
“This is part of the comprehensive and tailor-fit security coverage in this year’s Holiday season,” he added.
Aberin said he already instructed the five district directors of the NCRPO to intensify police visibility in all the malls, churches and other places of convergence in Metro Manila, especially when the traditional misa de gallo starts on Dec. 16.
As the Christmas and New Year celebrations near, he said a series of simulation and communication exercises to test the proficiency of the police in responding to emergencies and crimes.
Operating units, he added, will also launch series and simultaneous police operations targeting criminals proactively to prevent them from committing transgressions.
“District Directors were given strict instructions to flood the streets with competent and motivated police personnel, maximizing police presence and visibility to deter crimes and to provide both the residents and tourists of Metro Manila the feeling of safety and security in the metropolis,” said Aberin.

Motorcycle cops
In Central Luzon, at least 100 motorcycle riding policemen will be deployed to secure the celebrations and other activities relating to Christmas and New Year.
Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, director of the Police Regional Office 3, said the policemen are members of the regional Motorcycle Tactical Response Training who were trained for police visibility and crime prevention measures.
The training, he said, includes emergency response and other anti-crime measures which the people of Central Luzon, particularly in urban areas should expect, according to Maranan.
The initiative, he said is part of the peace and order operational framework EPP + QRT + CADCP= SR3 or the Enhanced Police Presence (EPP), Quick Response Time (QRT), and Counter Action against drug groups, criminal gangs, and private armed groups (CACDP) for Central Luzon.
The goal is to make sure that Central Luzon residents would celebrate the Yuletide season peacefully and orderly,” said Maranan.
