Taguig LGU scores Rep. Castro: No shooting incident in BGC

The Taguig City government called on ACT Teachers Party-list Rep. France Castro to rectify her statement that there was a shooting that happened in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).

It said the shooting happened in Makati and not in Taguig.

Castro said that last Dec. 11, two policemen got out of their patrol car after a motorcycle went near the cops. She said a policeman fired his gun.

“The City of Taguig would like to clarify that there was no shooting incident in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Barangay Fort Bonifacio on the evening of December 11, 2024, as reported by Hon. France Castro during the 13th Public Committee Hearing of the House Quad-Committee,” the Taguig City government said in a statement issued on Dec. 13.

It added that “upon verification with Hon. Castro’s driver, Mr. Jeffrey Atun, he clarified that the incident transpired along Makati Avenue, which is  within the jurisdiction of Makati City, not Taguig.”

“Moreover, Taguig’s police sub-station commanders, the BGC Estate Association, and Megaworld’s security offices all confirmed that no such incident occurred in BGC on that date or in recent weeks. In fact, it has been reported that officers of Makati PNP were relieved  of their duties following this incident in their jurisdiction,” the city government said.

It said, “We call on Hon. Castro’s office to issue a clarificatory statement to avoid confusion and to maintain accuracy in reports concerning public safety. Taguig City is committed to ensuring peace and security in all areas under its jurisdiction.”
