House Speaker Martin Romualdez told the nation's newly-minted lawyers to "keep the greater good in mind" as they chart their futures.
“As you begin your journey as lawyers, I encourage you to always keep the greater good in mind. Use your skills to protect the rights of others, promote justice, and contribute to the progress of our nation," Romualdez said in a statement Friday, Dec. 13.
The law is a powerful tool to create meaningful change - let it guide you to serve with integrity and compassion,” added the Speaker, himself a lawyer and product of the University of the Philippines (UP).
The Leyte 1st district congressman says the Philippines "needs lawyers who are not only skilled but also principled and driven by a strong sense of duty to the people".
"Let your practice reflect the values that brought you here - hard work, fairness, and service to others,” he said.
The names of the Bar passers were released earlier Friday. The leader of the 307-strong House of Representatives congratulated the new members of the law profession.
“Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have paid off, and you now stand as members of one of the most honorable professions in our society,” Romualdez said.
“As a fellow lawyer and alumnus of the UP College of Law, I understand the immense effort and sacrifice it takes to reach this milestone. It is not an easy road, but you have proven your resilience and commitment to your dreams,” he said.
Romualdez told the Bar passers that the “nation celebrates this achievement with you".
“May your career as a lawyer bring honor to your family, our profession, and the country we all love,” he said.
