HD Spikers stake clean record vs Angels

The HD Spikers gun for their fifth straight victory to reclaim the solo lead in their 6:30 p.m. confrontation with the Angels in the last playdate of the year before the league takes a holiday break.

Chery Tiggo, meanwhile, tries to bounce back from a recent loss when it tangles with Galeries Tower in the 4 p.m. curtain raiser.

Cignal continues to be a force to be reckoned with, having lost only two sets throughout their first four matches that kept them at the helm with defending champion Creamline.

Their all-around flawless plays have been pivotal in their matches, with everybody almost contributing a little of everything.

Still, skipper Ces Molina and Vanie Gandler are expected to form the HD Spikers’ offensive core, with Riri Meneses and Dawn Catindig taking charge of their defense.

Molina and Gandler were instrumental in their three-set victory over Nxled, where the dynamic duo combined for 23 points including 19 from attacks.

But Cignal is wary of Petro Gazz, which was only a game behind with a 4-1 card.

Like the HD Spikers, the Angels are on a three-game winning run that included a recent four-set triumph against the PLDT High Speed Hitters last Thursday, Dec. 12.

Brooke Van Sickle is expected to spearhead Petro Gazz anew after erupting for 21 points the last time, and would team up with Myla Pablo and Jonah Sabete to form the Angels’ deadly trio.

In the other pairing, Chery Tiggo is determined to regain lost footing after yielding to Akari that put them at 3-2.

Lessening their errors and keeping their offensive fire might just rejuvenate the Crossovers. In order to do that, they needed more support for key players Ara Galang and Ces Robles.

For Galeries Tower, sustaining its charge after notching its first win in five games at the expense of Capital1 is important.

Coach Lerma Giron casts her eyes on Jewel Encarnacion, Ysa Jimenez and Andrea Marzan in further boosting their morale after the trio combined for 31 points against the Solar Spikers.
