Gokongwei-led Cebu Air Inc. has reached a new milestone, recording as many as 250 million flown passengers in its 28th year of commercial operations.
In a statement on Friday, Dec. 13, Cebu Air said its low-cost carrier, Cebu Pacific’s new milestone, underscored its dedication to providing affordable and memorable travel experiences for its passengers.
“This 250 million passenger milestone is a testament to the trust and loyalty of every Juan who has chosen to fly with us. It represents countless stories, reunions, and memorable moments made possible over the years,” said Cebu Air President and Chief Executive Officer Xander Lao at an event at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
“Today, we reaffirm our commitment to making every Juan’s journey affordable, accessible, and unforgettable—not only across the Philippines but beyond,” he noted.
To celebrate the milestone, Cebu Pacific gave away P250,000 and 25 roundtrip tickets across all its routes for the 250th million passenger.
The winner, identified as Russel Capaniarihan, an overseas Filipino worker based in Singapore, flew back to the Philippines to spend Christmas with her family for the first time in 11 years.
Cebu Pacific has been actively pursuing an expansion strategy this year. Just recently, it announced what it touted as the “largest aircraft purchase” in Philippine history with the purchase of 152 aircraft from Airbus for $24 billion.
It also offered new destinations, such as flights to Chiang Mai, Thailand, and to Sapporo, Japan, on Jan. 16.
According to the company, Manila to Chiang Mai flights will operate three times weekly—every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Earlier this year, it also announced daily flights between Iloilo and Tagbilaran, Bohol which will begin on December 1; as well as thrice a week flights to and from Daraga, Albay; and Dumaguete in Negros Oriental.
