According to the local government, the Gawad Kalasag Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance is the recognition and awards scheme administered by the NDRRMC for stakeholders who continuously promote and implement disaster risk reduction and management, climate change adaptation, and humanitarian assistance programs.
The initiatives aim to protect communities from various hazards and enhance their capacity to address vulnerabilities, which over time became a mandatory assessment, especially for all local government units in the country.
