Francis Lopez moving on after costly Game 2 blunders

No words can describe the amount of pressure weighing down on one's shoulder when the game is too tight and the championship is on the line.

On one unfortunate Wednesday night, Dec. 11, University of the Philippine star Francis Lopez fell prey to the tension and missed four important free throws that could have altered the Game 2 result. 

“There’s no excuse [about it], I just missed them [and] can’t do anything but to move on,” said Lopez after State U’s heartbreaking 76-75 loss to La Salle in front of 17,112 fans at Mall of Asia Arena.

The 6-foot-6 high-flying forward, who registered 16 points, nine rebounds, one assist, two steals and four blocks, ended up missing his charities and turned the ball over in crunch time.

“I had turnovers, we just couldn’t get it to Maimai (JD Cagulangan), and that’s about it,” he added.

While La Salle's Kevin Quiambao and Mike Phillips also failed to connect on the other end, the defending champs had the last laugh after holding their own up to the last second.

The victory tied the series at 1-1, with the winner-take-all set Sunday, Dec. 15, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“Still have a Game 3 [and, we] still have another opportunity. Just gonna be focused on that,” said Lopez.

“There’s no best way than to move on from this.”
