Parañaque LGU receives Gawad Kalasag Seal for disaster preparedness programs

The city government of Parañaque has received the Gawad Kalasag Seal of Excellence from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD)-National Disaster Risk Reduction and Council (NDRRMC) for exceeding the standards for the establishment and functionality of the local DRRMCOs.

The city was recognized as among the top 3 “Beyond Compliant” and identified as one of the top 3 under the Highly Urbanized City classification of the Gawad Kalasag Seal and Special Awards for Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management and Humanitarian Assistance for year 2024 under the local DRRMCOs category.

The local government was also recognized as a regional finalist for the Government Emergency Management and Response Teams (GEMS) category by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The awards were received by Parañaque City Administrator Atty. Voltaire C. Dela Cruz, who represented Mayor Eric Olivarez, DRRMC Vice-Chairperson Dr. Teodoro B. Gonzalez Jr., and Zareena Lamberte, Research and Planning Division Chief, during the 24th Joint National and Regional Awarding at The Manila Prince Hotel, Ermita, Manila. 

The DRRMO extended its gratitude and congratulations to Olivarez, as chairperson of the DRRM Council, and all member agencies for their unwavering support, cooperation, and dedication to the commitment of our shared DRRM goals.
