The provincial government of La Union inaugurated its Christmas display during the annual Pasko sa Kapitolyo lighting ceremony on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the provincial capitol in San Fernando City, La Union.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica "Rafy" Ortega-David, who led the event, said that despite challenges and constraints this year, the spirit of Christmas should still serve to inspire us and give us hope.
This year’s display has mystical butterflies and fairies, colorful flowers, and dazzling Christmas lights and lanterns and displays.
Another attraction this year is the bougainvillea lanterns in full bloom at the Orros Park. Bougainvillea is the province’s provincial flower.
Other attractions are the giant Christmas tree at the facade of the provincial capitol building, a life-size Nativity scene, snowman, nutcracker soldiers, carriage, giant Christmas balls, and carnival.
The provincial government expects an increase in the number of visitors from 260, 719 last year.
Ortega said the display is free to the public and open from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight daily until the end of this month.
