The program was officially unveiled during a ceremonial partnership signing with two private companies at the Valenzuela City Hall Atrium.
According to the city’s Public Information Office, the initiative introduced 41 electric mobility units, with an allocation of P75,768,000 for the purchase of the five-seater hatchbacks.
40 will be deployed to the Valenzuela City Police Station (VCPS), while the remaining vehicle will be assigned to the Valenzuela City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (VCDRRMO) Quick Response Team.
The city government revealed that Valenzuela will be the first local government unit (LGU) in the country to use electric vehicles in law enforcement.
The "Go Green" initiative is designed to enhance public safety, promote environmental sustainability, and reduce the city's carbon footprint. By adopting EVs, the local government expects to lower fuel and maintenance costs, while contributing to a cleaner environment.
Each vehicle is equipped with a 150kW motor (204 horsepower), a 44.9 kWh battery, and a range of up to 405 kilometers.
Advanced technology features, including anti-theft systems, regenerative braking, and electronic stability programs, make the vehicles well-suited for police use.
The city will also install charging stations at strategic locations, including Valenzuela City Hall, ALERT Center, Mall, and other 3S Centers, to ensure convenient access for recharging.
In his speech, Mayor Weslie “WES” Gatchalian highlighted that the program’s objectives under the theme "AIR"— Advancing Peace and Order, Igniting Green Initiatives, and Reviving Up Cost Efficiency— reflecting Valenzuela's commitment to both public safety and environmental sustainability.
He also emphasized that the city aims to build the largest EV police group and charging network among Philippine local government units.
“We take the wheel of change and drive toward the horizon of a cleaner future,” Gatchalian said.
The initiative underscores the city’s dedication to forward-thinking governance and sets a pioneering example of how sustainability and progress can work together for the betterment of both public service and the environment.
The event was attended by National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Acting Regional Director Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, Northern Police District (NPD) Director Col. Josefino Ligan, VCPS Chief Col. Nixon Cayaban, city councilors, and other city officials.
