PUTRAJAYA, MALAYSIA – Fnatic Onic Philippines asserted its mastery over Team Liquid Indonesia, 3-1, to keep the country’s Finals appearance streak in the M6 World Championships at the IOI City Convention Center on Wednesday, Dec.11 here.
In the battle of MPL champions from two of the most dominant regions, the Filipinos were proving to be a cut above the rest as FNOP went on a hot start but put together an even better finish to give the country its fifth straight finals appearance in the worlds.
Onic Philippines is also marching to the franchise's second finals appearance in the M-series – the first time since the M3 in December 2021 where the team still featured Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol, Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy and Gerald “Dlar” Trinchera.
FNOP went off to a hot start with a perfect 10-0 game in the series opener and while had some hiccups in Game 2, made sure to finish off TLID with convincing victories in Games 3 and 4.
Duane “Kelra” Pillas, France” Super Frince” Ramirez and King “K1NGKONG” Perez took turns as they spearheaded the assault for the Filipinos who only needed 12 and 14 minutes respectively in the last two games.
Kelra was impressive on the Bruno pick in the lopsided 16-7 Game 3 with a neat 6-0-2 line while Super Frince provided the damage from the distance with his Yve to finish with a 4-1-11. Not to be outdone was K1NGKONG who scattered a 5-1-7 line on the Joy.
Smelling blood in the water, the Filipinos continued their rampage in Game 4 with K1NGKONG leading the charge 7-2-7 line on the Suyou while Kelra added another deathless showing with a 2-0-12 KDA on the Wanwan.
FNOP plunges back into the action in the last day of the tournament on Dec. 15 as it awaits its opponent that would emerge from the lower bracket.
