A testament to genuine public service: San Juan receives Seal of Good Local Governance 2024

The San Juan City local government has received the 2024 Seal of Good Local Governance for the second consecutive year after passing the Department of the Interior and Local Government's (DILG) assessment in all 10 governance areas under the All-In Assessment Approach.

On Wednesday, Dec. 11, Mayor Francis Zamora thanked everyone who worked tirelessly to make the achievement possible for the city.

“This back-to-back recognition is a testament to our unwavering commitment to exemplary governance and genuine public service,” the mayor said.

“Itong pagkilala na ito ay inaalay po natin sa ating minamahal na Lungsod ng San Juan at sa bawat San Juaneño! (This recognition is dedicated to our beloved City of San Juan and to each and every San Juaneño),” he added.

Zamora said that the Seal of Good Local Governance is the highest recognition an LGU can receive from the DILG.

“Pursuant to Republic Act No. 11292 or the SGLG Act of 2018, this award is a testament to our commitment to excellence, as LGUs must meet all 10 critical governance areas to qualify. Failure in even one means disqualification. It’s all or nothing!” he explained.

To receive the award, the LGU must pass the DILG’s All-In Assessment Approach: Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Sustainable Education; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Safety, Peace, and Order; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture, and Arts; and Youth Development.
