President Marcos made the statement as he appealed to respect the Indonesian Government's request not to make any announcement on Veloso's transfer to Manila just yet.

"Well, you know we were asked by the Indonesian government not to make any announcements until everything is settled," he said in an interview on the sidelines of the inauguration of the North Luzon Expressway Candaba 3rd Viaduct in Bulacan on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

"So, let’s respect that request," he added.

He made the remark when asked for updates on Veloso's anticipated return after 14 years of imprisonment in Indonesia.

On Dec. 6, the Philippines and Indonesia signed an agreement for the transfer of Veloso back to her home country.

In November this year, Indonesia agreed to finally bring Veloso back to the Philippines  without asking anything in return.

Veloso was convicted for drug trafficking in Indonesia in 2010. She has been on death row for 14 years.
