Chief Happiness Officer Ronald McDonald led the Stripes Run 2024 in MOA Concert Grounds
The McDonald’s Stripes Run 2024 Run for Reading was recorded to have the biggest number of accumulated runners, with over 10,000 registered participants. The successful event gathered together individuals and families, including guest celebrities such as the Agoncillo Family, Ysabel Ortega, Barbie Forteza, and David Licauco.
The running community and enthusiasts have looked forward to this event since its inaugural in 2010, encouraging families and friends not only to a healthier lifestyle but also to empower and support its beneficiary, the Ronald McDonald’s House Charities. In its 13th year, McDonald’s continued to innovate to meet the expectations and excitement of the participants in this highly anticipated event.
This year’s thrilling Stripes Run was hosted by DJ Chacha and Vince Velasco at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds. Runners took on the challenge to finish 10k, 5k, 3k, and 1k race distances with seven categories featuring the, Stripes Squad, Stripes Family, and the return of the Fur Stripes where families and fur parents ran with their fur babies and furry friends. The inclusion of this category is part of McDonald’s commitment to creating feel-good moments.
“Every Stripes Run is really an event for families and when we talk about families, of course, that includes our fur babies,” explained Ms. Adi Timbol-Hernandez, McDonald’s Philippines AVP for Corporate Relations and VP for RMHC Board.
“This addition, which we started last year, was inspired by the desire to make the event more family-friendly and to celebrate the bond people share with their fur babies, who are very much part of the family. We wanted to offer something for everyone while staying true to McDonald’s philosophy of fostering happiness and togetherness,” she added.
Joined by the runners and fur babies are Birdie, Hamburglar, Ronald McDonald, and Grimace.
After finishing the race, runners were given a McDonald’s Breakfast Meal along with the finisher’s token. Fun activities for kids and dogs, fitness zones, and a Zumba session were available at the concert grounds, where the Agoncillo Family also conducted a live reading activity for the children. Every year, the proceeds from the fun run support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and its various programs. For 2024, the event will benefit the RMHC Bahay Bulilit Program.
The Bahay Bulilit Program, or the Bahay Bulilit Learning Centers, was created to provide a safe and nurturing environment for young children, especially in underserved communities, allowing them to learn, play, and grow while their parents work. In the long run, the Bahay Bulilit aims to establish more centers nationwide, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality early learning opportunities. The unwavering support of participants enables RHMC to expand Bahay Bulilit branches and ensure resources to maintain the quality of existing centers.

“We have been doing Stripes Run every year and every year, it gets bigger and better with more runners and generating more awareness for RHMC. So we’re excited and very thankful and look forward to doing more Stripes Run and even more activities for the benefit of RHMC,” Timbol stated.
McDonald’s Philippines is proud to reach this milestone which has been made possible by the team and partnering with experts such as Run Rio to manage the run and ensure everyone’s safety. The event concluded with an awarding ceremony for the top three male and female runners for each category, including the fur babies.
