“These infiltration and recruitment efforts represent a desperate attempt by the Communist Terrorist Group to find prospective cadres and leaders following the demise of their top-ranking officials in recent encounters,” said Major Gen.  Marion Sison, 3rd ID commander.

Flyers of Kabataang Makabayan were allegedly found in the campuses of the University of the Philippines-Visayas and West Visayas State University.

These had messages that said: “Rebolusyon Laban sa Kahirapan,”“Mabuhay ang Pulang Mandirigma,” and “Sagot sa Kahirapan, Digmang Bayan.”

The Army said that students should be shielded from the propaganda to join the NPA, the armed wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

“We cannot afford for even one or two of our students to be led astray into the mountains, wasting their lives fighting for a futile cause. We will not allow this to happen,” Sison said.

The 3rd ID urged proactive measures from the administration of universities and colleges to prevent recruitment activities.
