DSWD-6 warns vs scammer using regional director's name

ILOILO CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Western Visayas disclosed that a scammer has used the name of Regional Director Arwin Razo to order food worth more than P10,000 last week.

In a public advisory, the DSWD-6 said that staff in an action center in a mall here learned on Nov. 27 that an individual using the name of Razo claimed that his office would no longer accept the food ordered for late delivery.

“We would like to set the record straight that it was not Regional Director Razo who ordered the food as there was no occasion at its GT Mall site during the day,” said the DSWD-6 in a statement.

“The public is hereby warned that DSWD officials and its employees do not order food in bulk,” it said.

The DSWD-6 warned there are other online scammers using the name of regional directors of various government agencies in Western Visayas.

“DSWD warns that our office only purchases goods through government procurement procedure,” it added.
