CAMP Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – Police Regional Office-3 chief Police Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan said on Thursday, Nov. 28, that 939 loose firearms were seized in Central Luzon from Oct. 1 to Nov. 27.
Maranan said 924 were short firearms and 15 were light weapons.
Two-hundred ninety-eight were recovered in law enforcement operations such as search warrants and checkpoint operations, 172 were voluntarily surrendered by owners, and 469 were obtained through the revitalized “Katok” program.
"Our goal is not only to ensure a peaceful and orderly election, but also to give the public confidence that security and order are our priority. Through increased operations, close coordination with agencies, and the solidarity of each member of the community, we believe we can do our duty well," Maranan said.
Meanwhile, the Regional Joint Security Control Center composed of the Commission on Elections, Philippine National Police, military, and Philippine Coast Guard discussed on Thursday security measures that would ensure an orderly, peaceful, and safe midterm elections in the region.
In line with this, the PRO-3 has started the full implementation of the peace and order operational framework called Enhanced Police Presence + Quick Response Time + Counter Actions against drug groups, criminal gangs, and private armed groups in Central Luzon.
