Former Manila Mayor Lito Atienza understood if his son, popular television host Kim Atienza, would not campaign for him in the 2025 midterm elections.
"Okay, lang," said Lito when asked how he felt about Kim being unable to campaign for him in next year's midterm elections during a recent lunch with entertainment editors in Quezon City.
In 2021, Kim said that GMA Network does not allow political activities such as campaigning, especially for family members and relatives.
On Dec. 3, Kim remained a Kapuso after he renewed his contract with the network for three more years. He debuted another television program, "Ang Dami Mong Alam, Kuya Kim," airing Saturdays on GMA Network at 10:45 a.m.
"Mabait si Kim. Mabait na asawa, mabait na ama," said the former mayor on his son.
Lito, 83, is returning to Congress as the first nominee for the Buhay party list.
A devout Catholic, the former House Deputy Speaker said the party list opposed a measure to legalize divorce in the country. It will also resist anti-life and anti-family measures should the party-list win the elections next year.
Carlos Sario, who is standing as the third nominee for the same party list, emphasized the importance of implementing regulations for shows or programs that have the potential to influence minors.
He argued that these regulations are necessary to protect young audiences from harmful content and to ensure that the media they consume is appropriate for their age.
Sario believes that by establishing clearer guidelines, we can create a safer and more supportive environment for children and adolescents as they navigate various forms of entertainment and information.
