A 35-year-old man died and two others were injured when a wing van hit four other vehicles on San Mateo Road in Barangay Batasan, Quezon City, on Friday, November 8.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the driver of the wing van or cargo truck as Ranilo Galabay, 46.
According to the police report, the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. The four other vehicles involved were two SUVs, a car, and a tricycle. They were traveling along San Mateo Road when the accident happened.
The wing van first hit a car and then an SUV.
The truck driver attempted to regain control of his vehicle by steering to the left.
However, the truck collided with a tricycle, pushing it into a nearby post.
The truck also hit an SUV hatchback.
One of the tricycle’s passengers was taken to Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
Another tricycle passenger and an occupant of the SUV sustained injuries.
Police added that all the involved vehicles suffered damages.
The wing van driver will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property, police said.
