Negros Occidental to build P50-M dormitory for evacuees, athletes

BACOLOD CITY – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is planning to build a P50-million, five-story multi-purpose dormitory at the Pana-ad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan here to primarily house evacuees and athletes.

Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz II said the first module that can house at least 500 individuals will be constructed using a budget from the provincial capitol’s savings.

“We will implement this building by building,” he said.

Diaz said that Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson has approved the master plan and ordered to prioritize the project. 

“This will be a decent evacuation and facility for athletes and visitors from other regions if there’s sporting events in the province,” he said.

Diaz noted that the provincial capitol needs a larger space for the full implementation and construction of the building with a capacity of 5,000.

He said that part of its plan is to give an option for those who have acquired lots at the residential area of the Pana-ad Park to swap it for another capitol property in Barangay Mansilingan.
