After Typhoon “Marce” (international name: Yinxing), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said two low-pressure areas (LPA) east of the country could develop into tropical cyclones in the coming days.

In its two-week tropical cyclone threat potential forecast issued on Friday, Nov. 8, PAGASA said the first LPA (LPA 11b) has a “high” chance of intensifying into a tropical depression, while the second LPA has a “low to moderate” likelihood of becoming a tropical cyclone. 

Both weather disturbances are expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

In its seven-day weather outlook for Nov. 8 to 15, PAGASA said Typhoon Marce will exit the PAR on Nov. 8, leaving most of the country with partly cloudy to cloudy skies, isolated rain showers, and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Ilocos region may experience gusty conditions and mostly cloudy skies.

By Saturday, Nov. 9, LPA 11b is expected to enter the PAR. Its trough will bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas, especially in the latter part of the day. 

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. 

On Sunday, Nov. 10, LPA 11b may bring mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas. 

A developing shear line, which forms when cold air from the northeasterly winds collides with warm air from the easterlies, will also bring similar conditions to Batanes and Babuyan Islands. 

PAGASA warned that the development of LPA 11b into a tropical cyclone is possible by Sunday or Monday, Nov. 11.

The other LPA near Micronesia may also become a tropical cyclone by Sunday and could enter the PAR by Monday or Tuesday, Nov. 12.

From Monday to Tuesday, LPA 11b will cross Northern Luzon, and along with the shear line over extreme Northern Luzon, will bring cloudy skies, scattered to widespread rains, and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.

Most of Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. 

By Wednesday, Nov. 13, as LPA 11b moves away from Northern Luzon, the entire country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. 

From Thursday to Friday, Nov. 14 to 15, the second potential cyclone may graze the eastern part of Luzon before moving away.

PAGASA warned that depending on its path, stormy weather with rains and gusty winds could affect Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, and Bicol Region. 

The rest of the country will likely experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. 

PAGASA pointed out that the situation next week will depend heavily on the development and movement of the two potential cyclones.

The next tropical cyclones inside the PAR will be named “Nika” and “Ofel.”
