3 hurt in hit-and-run involving priest in Cebu

CEBU CITY â€“ Three persons were injured in a hit-and-run incident involving a priest who was reportedly drunk when the accident happened on Thursday night, Nov. 7, in Santa Fe town, Bantayan Island, northern Cebu.

Rev. Fr. Rhanmar Ragmac Singuran, 45, a resident of Barangay Argawanon, San Remegio town, Cebu, was taken into police custody after the incident.

Police said the priest was driving a white Toyota Camry when he hit two motorcycles past 8 p.m. on a provincial road in Barangay Pooc, Santa Fe.

The three vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the two motorcycles were rear-ended.

Injured were Anthony Ilustrisimo Pacinio, 45, of Barangay Maricaban, Santa Fe, his back rider Mary Kim Kristine Espinosa Pacinio, 21, and the driver of the other motorcycle, Bill Maicor Seared Salino, 24.

Police said the impact threw the riders off their motorcycles but the priest allegedly did not stop.

Witnesses helped bring the injured motorists to the Bantayan District Hospital.

Police said the priest was intercepted in the neighboring town of Bantayan where it was confirmed that he was drunk while driving.
