DAVAO CITY – Mindanao Development Authority Chairman Secretary Leo Tereso Magno highlighted the 2024 Innovation Summit’s essential role in unlocking investment opportunities in Mindanao.

The three-day summit kicked off on Thursday, Nov. 7, at SMX Convention Center here, gathering leading experts and stakeholders from across Mindanao to foster collaborations, drive technological progress, and develop innovative solutions for economic growth.
With the theme “Convergent Innovations: Intensifying Gains in the Global Digital Economy,” Magno said the summit seeks to position Mindanao as a place of opportunity, inviting investors to explore its growing digital landscape.
“The opportunities before us are limitless as innovation opens new avenues for expansion and enhancements in all areas of life. Innovation has always been the driving force behind the growth of great economies,” Magno said.
He emphasized the importance of innovation and peace in driving Mindanao’s economic growth, pointing to the region’s remarkable transformation.
“Mindanao has transformed from a conflict-ridden area into an island of peace, beauty, and prosperity – showcasing the benefits of stability under Bagong Pilipinas,” Magno said, stressing how this peaceful environment now fosters sustainable innovation.
Davao Chamber President and Innovation Summit Chair Belinda L. Torres underscored the summit's goal and the joint efforts of the Davao Chamber and Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Davao to drive positive change through innovation.
Torres said that they have been working closely with ICT Davao Inc. to enhance the summit and ensure the growth and success of Davao’s digital landscape, which is vital to the city’s expanding digital economy.
“Our goal is to bring innovations from all sectors into one space, creating an environment where participants can learn, connect, and innovate," Torres said.
The three-day summit, organized by the Davao Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. in collaboration with ICT Davao Inc., showcases 33 exhibitors from local and international sectors, offering technologies and solutions that support sustainable development goals for Mindanao.
