For many Filipinos, TGI Fridays is more than just a restaurant; it’s a place of fond memories, celebrations, and nostalgia. Since its arrival in the Philippines 30 years ago, the iconic red-and-white-striped brand has become a staple in the local dining scene. Now, despite financial challenges facing TGI Fridays Inc. in the U.S., The Bistro Group—the Philippine franchisee—is not only unaffected but actively expanding.
The U.S. parent company recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for its 39 company-owned stores, but this restructuring does not impact global franchises, including those in the Philippines. The Bistro Group clarified that its Philippine operations are stable, emphasizing that the brand remains committed to delivering the "Fridays Feeling" that Filipino diners have come to love.
“We are proud to announce that TGI Fridays Philippines is not only stable but thriving. In 2024, we successfully opened five new locations across the country, bringing to 30 the number of our stores to date, and we have plans to launch another five in 2025,” said Jean Paul Manuud, president of The Bistro Group in a press statement. “This growth reflects our commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences and the ‘Fridays Feeling’ that our customers have come to love.”
The expansion aligns with the brand’s 30th anniversary in the Philippines, a milestone that speaks to its longevity and popularity among Filipino diners. Manuud underscored the brand’s consistent focus on quality and service, explaining, “Our dedication to quality service and customer satisfaction remains unwavering. We continue to uphold the high standards that TGI Fridays is known for, and we are excited about the future as we expand our footprint in the Philippines.”
TGI Fridays Philippines looks forward to another decade as a go-to destination for gatherings and celebrations. “We appreciate the ongoing support from our loyal customers, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to our restaurants for many more memorable moments,” Manuud concluded.
