Pasay City unveils state-of-the-art central ICU at PCGH

Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano presided over the opening on Monday, November 4, of the Central Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH), the sole public hospital in the city.

Mayor Rubiano highlighted that the Central ICU is equipped with a capacity of 15 beds, designed to serve critically ill patients who are residents of Pasay City.

“This Central ICU is established on the principles of genuine compassion and care for our patients. The Central ICU is a manifestation of our commitment to providing dedicated and sufficient service to all Pasayeños whenever the opportunity arises,” Rubiano stated.

The mayor also extended her congratulations to the PCGH for its accomplishments within its major clinical departments.

She specifically commended the internal medicine department for successfully reducing the mortality rate to 2.2 percent this year.

Rubiano noted the significant improvement in the hospital’s mortality rate during the Covid-19 pandemic, which was recorded at 28.0 percent in 2021, decreasing to 16 percent in 2022.

Furthermore, the mayor affirmed that the city government will persist in its efforts to modernize the PCGH with new and upgraded facilities.
