CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Two fishermen from Ilocos Sur found a pack of shabu worth P6.8 million floating on the West Philippine Sea in Barangay Dili, Santa Cruz, Ilocos Sur on Sunday, Nov. 3.

They turned over the vacuum-sealed transparent plastic pack labeled with Chinese characters to the local police.
The contraband was submitted to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office 1 in San Fernando City, La Union for forensic analysis.
A chemistry report confirmed that the substance was indeed shabu with a total weight of 1,000.40 grams and a standard drug price of P6,802,720.
Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista, Ilocos police chief, commended the two fishermen for their decision and urged all fisherfolks to report similar discoveries to the police.
“By fostering collaboration among residents and other law enforcement agencies, we can significantly improve the safety and security of the Ilocos region. Together, we can create a safer community for everyone," he said.
