ILOILO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment said that more than 193,000 minimum wage workers are set to benefit from the wage hike in Western Visayas region.

The DOLE-6 announced that all is set for the implementation of the wage increase on Nov. 17 after the wage order was published in a local newspaper.
DOLE-6 estimated that around 300,252 full time workers and 160,795 “kasambahay” (house helper) will benefit from the wage hike.
The National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) approved the P33 to P40 increase for workers in Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, and Negros Occidental provinces as well as the cities of Iloilo and Bacolod last week.
Non-agricultural workers in a company with more than 10 employees will receive P513 per day from P480. Workers in a company of 10 or less will receive P485 from P450 per day. For workers in the agricultural sector, the minimum wage will be P480 from P440.
The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-6 noted that house helpers will receive a P1,000 increase monthly, from P5,000 to P6,000.
The last wage increase in Western Visayas was implemented on Nov. 16, 2023.
