‘Undas’ in Eastern Visayas concludes peacefully – PRO-8


TACLOBAN CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Rey Cumigad said that All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day in Eastern Visayas were generally peaceful.

Cumigad attributed the peaceful observance of the two annual occasions to PRO-8’s steadfast dedication to public safety and community service. 

“The proactive initiatives implemented by our personnel ensured that families could pay respect to their departed loved ones in a safe and secure environment,” Cumigad said. 

He acknowledged the dedication of the police, partner-agencies, advocacy groups, and community volunteers in making this “Undas” peaceful and orderly. 

A total of 2,408 uniformed personnel were deployed in cemeteries, seaports, terminals, and airports in the region.

Incident monitoring and information awareness campaign on security measures were conducted and 412 police assistance desks were established in different places of convergence with the help of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

PRO-8 was under heightened alert status from 12 a.m. on Oct. 28 to 12 p.m. on Nov. 4 to ensure a secure observance of Undas.
