The international community is one with the Philippines in mourning for the victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
The embassies of Russia, the Netherlands, European Union, Israel, France and Japan expressed their solidarity with the Philippines on the National Day of Mourning on Monday, Nov. 4, which was declared by President Marcos for the tragic loss of lives caused by the storm.
The Russian Embassy in Manila posted on X a photo of a lighted candle with black background to express its sympathy with Filipinos.
"The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of the Philippines joins the Filipino people in mourning the victims of Tropical Storm Kristine, which left a devastating impact across the Republic, and expresses condolences to the families of the victims of this tragedy," it said.
Dutch Ambassador to the Philippines Mariella Geraedts posted a photo of the flag of the Netherlands at half-mast as her country stood in solidarity with the Philippines.
"Similarly, devastating rains and flooding caused havoc in Spain and Taiwan. All stark reminders that the impacts of climate change are a painful reality," she said.
With flag also at half-mast, the European Union said it joined the Filipino people in honoring those whose lives were lost and its thoughts are also with the communities in Spain affected by recent floods.
"May we find strength and healing in our solidarity. We stand together in remembrance and support," EU Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Santoro said in his X post.
The Israeli Embassy in Manila said it extends its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and loved ones of those who lost their lives.
The embassy also said that its thoughts and prayers are with its Filipino friends during this difficult time.
The French and Japanese embassies in Manila also flew at half-mast their respective flags to express their sympathies.
"These events remind us of the necessity to collectively address the impacts of climate change," the French Embassy said.
"Facing the loss of life, livelihood & property, we stand united with the [Philippines] in its recovery efforts." the Japanese Embassy said.
