Ilocos region 'Undas' generally peaceful, says Evangelista

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Police said All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days in the Ilocos region were generally peaceful.

Ilocos police chief Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista, speaking during the regular Monday flag raising ceremony in this camp on Monday, Nov. 4, said no significant incidents occurred during the long weekend.

Evangelista attributed this to the comprehensive deployment and mobilization of police personnel and force multipliers, heightened police visibility, effective traffic management, and prompt emergency response measures in places of convergence.

The Police Regional Office-1 was placed under full alert status to enable it to implement its security plan with the support of local officials and various government agencies.

Evangelista thanked local government units, barangay officials, and volunteers who contributed to the security of the annual observance.
