Don't buy helicopters; give your money to the poor instead.
This was P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon's advice to congressmen following the successive storms--most notably "Kristine"--that caused massive flooding in different parts of the country these past few weeks.
"Congs, huwag naman kayong bumili ng helicopter pagkatapos binaha ang Pilipinas. Nakakayamot po yan," Guazon wrote on X Monday, Nov. 4.
(Congs, please don't buy a helicopter after then Philippines became inundated with floods. That's annoying.)
Incidentally, Monday was the day congressmen recovened in plenary at Batasan Pambansa after a six-week long break.
"Pamigay nyo na ang datong nyo sa mahihirap. Kung 32M pesos at 32M ka tao , may tag 1M sila," she further told the lawmakers.
(Just give your money to the poor. If it's P32M and there are 32M people, that gives them 1M each.)
Seeing Guanzon's erroneous calculation, X user Butektek called it out.
"Parang tig 1k lang po bawat tao sa 32M pera at 32M na tao ma’an. Hehe (That would seem like P1k per person if there's P32M in cash and 32M people, ma'am. Hehe)," Butektek replied to Guanzon's post.
Guanzon replied to the netizen and claimed that at least that part was a joke.
"I know anak.(son) hahah. i have a degree n Econ from UP. Thats a joke," she clarified.
