From May 28 to 29, President Marcos was on a state visit to Brunei that led to the signing of agreements on tourism cooperation, maritime cooperation, and standards of training, certification and watchkeeping for seafarers, which are anticipated to positively impact growth and development in the region.

The Brunei princess' visit to the Philippine this time would fortify "the close relationship between the two nations, particularly in the areas of culture and economic cooperation," according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

"The Philippines and Brunei Darussalam share warm and cordial relations owing to historic people-to-people exchanges and a shared commitment to a peaceful and prosperous region," DFA said.

"The two countries continue to work together for stronger bilateral cooperation, especially in areas of tourism, agriculture, and defense," it added.
