BONTOC, Mountain Province – A 14-year-old boy drowned on the Chico River in Dawdawan, Supang, Sabangan, Mountain Province on Thursday, Oct. 31.
Authorities identified the victim as Juneil Crey Liwaliw Bagwan.
AUTHORITIES recover the remains of a 14-year-old drowning victim on the Chico River in Bontoc, Mountain Province on Nov. 2.
Bagwan was swept away by the river’s strong current and his body was found in Barangay Amlosong here on All Souls’ Day after a three-day intensive search operation amid heavy rain from super typhoon “Leon.”
His remains were recovered by the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council.
Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr. condoled with the victim’s family and thanked the people involved in the search and retrieval operation.
Lacwasan said the recovery of the victim’s body reflects the unwavering strength of the community and the enduring spirit of ‘binnadang’ or unity and cooperation in times of adversity.
