LTO probes viral video of Korean who ran amok in Clark

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is now conducting a thorough investigation into the viral video of a Korean who allegedly hit a motorcycle and later a gas pump of a gasoline station at the Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said he already instructed the LTO Central Luzon to issue a Show Cause Order (SCO) to both the 41-year old Korean and the registered owner of the sports utility vehicle.

“We assure the public that we will look into this and impose sanctions,” said Mendoza.

Based on the initial result of the police investigation, the Korean has been working in a casino in Clark.

At dawn on Oct. 31, a security personnel spotted him inside the SUV naked. It was then that the Korean allegedly sped off the vehicle and deliberately hit the motorcycle of a security guard in front of a hotel at Clark Freeport Zone.

Fortunately, the security guard was not hurt.

But it did not end there as the Korean drove his car away from the hotel and later was cornered in a nearby gasoline station.

Instead of alighting from the car, the Korean allegedly stepped on the gas pedal which hit the gas pump. This ignited a fire and fortunately again, the blaze was immediately controlled.

Mendoza said the LTO investigation will focus on determining if the 41-year Korean driver is a Philippine driver’s license holder. 

“If he has a Philippine driver’s license, then I will personally make sure that he will be punished according to our rules and regulations,” said Mendoza.

The Korean is now under police custody and is facing a string of criminal charges, including attempted homicide. 

The video of the incident was posted on social media and went viral.
