7th Ibagiw Festival in Baguio City slated


BAGUIO CITY – This city is holding the 7th Ibagiw Baguio Creative Festival with the theme “Inquisitive. It's confusing. Be Creative” starting Nov. 8.

Acting Mayor Benny Bomagao has signed Executive Order No. 116 declaring this month as the 2024 Ibagiw Baguio Creative Festival and mandating community support and dissemination of guidelines.

The Creative Baguio City Council (CBCC) and the city government, through the City Tourism Office, will manage the month-long activity in line with the designation of Baguio City as a United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Creative City for Crafts and Folk Arts since 2017.

The celebration begins with a press conference on Monday, Nov. 4, at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center, followed by the opening gala on Nov. 8 at the same venue.

Organizers are conducting  art exhibits and installations featuring local artists, folk arts, and crafts, gastro-art crawls, art and craft bazaars, cultural and creative shows, Creative Sundays on Session Road with busking activities, Crafts and Folk Arts Competition-Kids Edition scheduled on Nov. 15 to 16 at SM City Baguio, and the Curiosity: 2nd Asian Festival Children's Content Circle Philippines at the Baguio Convention Center from Nov. 21 to 23.

The awarding ceremonies dubbed Anido Night will be held on Nov. 23 at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.

As a UNESCO Creative City, the city government is tasked with fostering collaboration with and among the 246 member cities that recognize creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development in the fields of design, film, gastronomy, literature, music, media arts, art and folk art.
