ZAMBOANGA CITY - The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Region 9 or Zamboanga Peninsula has ordered a P33 daily wage increase for private sector workers effective Dec. 12.
THE Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Region 9 meets to discuss the new wage order for Zamboanga Peninsula private sector workers.
Non-agricultural workers will receive P414 per day from P381 while those in the agricultural sector will receive P401 from P369.
Albert Gutib, wage board chairman and Department of Labor and Employment regional director, said they came up with Wage Order 23 after several consultations and public hearings in Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, and Isabela City.
Factors such as poverty threshold and opinions of labor and employer sector became the basis for the new wage order.
The board is composed of Gutib, Maria Felicidad R. Guerrero, regional director of the National Economic Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry regional director Al-Zamir Lipae, employers representatives Edgar Lim and Roberto Valerio, and labor representatives Carlo Catis and Princess Nellaine Yting.
The last wage increase in the region under Wage Order 22 took effect on Nov. 12, 2023.
