“In light of this incident, the Legal Unit is now executing legal procedures to ensure that the welfare of the concerned female scouter is properly attended to,” said the DepEd-Schools Division of Iloilo (DepEd-SDO Iloilo).
A 57-year-old male teacher watched and took a video of a 31-year-old female non-teaching staff taking a bath in a makeshift bathroom on Monday, Nov. 27.
The male teacher was subsequently arrested by the Calinog Municipal Police Station.
“We are not undermining the said incident, and we do not tolerate misbehaviors that could harm any of our employees,” said the DepEd-SDO Iloilo.
“DepEd prioritizes the safety and well-being of learners and participants in all activities under its purview and such behavior — if proven — is unequivocally condemned,” DepEd-SDO Iloilo added.
The BSP-Iloilo Confesor Council also condemned the incident.
Iloilo Provincial Board Member Matt Palabrica, BSP-Iloilo Council chairman, said the behavior of the male teacher is unacceptable.
