14-year-old boy hacks 8-year-old nephew dead

BACOLOD CITY – A 14-year-old boy allegedly hacked his eight-year-old nephew to death in Barangay Santol, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental last week.

Police Major Jun Ray Batadlan, Binalbagan police chief, said Tuesday that the victim was last seen alive with the suspect on Nov. 19.

The victim was found dead in a sugarcane field in Sitio Omot, Barangay Santol on Nov. 23.

Batadlan said the suspect allegedly hacked the victim with a bolo.

He said that the murder weapon was recovered from the suspect’s house during a follow-up investigation.

The suspect admitted killing the victim but police have yet determine the reason for the crime.

Batadlan said they are conducting follow-up investigation.

The suspect is under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), he said.
