Manila Water completes key projects to enhance water supply in Rizal

Razon-led Manila Water Co. Inc. has completed two service improvement and expansion projects in Rizal, to enhance and expand its water service reach in the province.

In a statement, Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water Communications Affairs Group director, said the projects, completed in May and July this year, include the Metro Royale Phases 1 and 2 Mainline Extension project in Montalban.

It also covers the 300-millimeter (mm) Pipelaying Project in Sitio Balatik, Binangonan.

The Metro Royale project involved installing over 2,566 linear meters of 100-mm-diameter high-density polyethylene (HDPE) waterlines, along with additional pipes and essential appurtenances to improve water pressure and reduce head loss.

Sevilla said this P21.6-million project expanded Manila Water's service coverage in Montalban, adding an estimated distribution volume of 0.27 million liters per day (MLD) and benefiting over 3,462 residents in Barangay Burgos.

The Sitio Balatik project, meanwhile, involved installing 747 linear meters of 300 mm HDPE pipes to convey water from the Cardona Water Treatment Plant.

Sevilla said this project increased Manila Water's coverage to 2,400 households in the sitio and adjacent communities, providing them with a reliable and consistent water supply. "Manila Water has been aggressively expanding its service reach in the East Zone, especially to underserved communities," Sevilla said.

"With the completed water infrastructure in Sitio Balatik and Metro Royale Housing Complex, the company is gaining considerable ground in ensuring reliable and quality water access to key areas of Rizal," he added.
