To strengthen teacher collaboration and support the implementation of the revised K to 12 curriculum, the Department of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday, Nov. 26, announced the launch of Master Classes for Kindergarten and Grades 1, 4, and 7 (K147) Teachers Across All Learning Areas.
In a statement, DepEd said the five-day master class, held from Nov. 25 to 29 during the In-Service Training (INSET), encourages educators to work together, share knowledge, and continuously improve outcomes through shared leadership and collective learning.
Great help for teachers
Undersecretary and Chief of Staff Fatima Lipp Panontongan said the initiative aligns with efforts to provide capacity-building and professional development.
Through these master classes, DepEd aims to equip teachers to address their daily challenges effectively.
“Hindi po biro ang inyong pinagdadaanan araw-araw. ‘Pag may kalamidad, kayo po ang mga unang tumutugon. Kayo po ang tumatayong magulang ng ating mga mag-aaral sa ating mga paaralan” (What you go through every day is no joke. During calamities, you are our first responders. You act as parents to our learners in our schools),” she added.
DepEd noted that the master classes are being livestreamed through the official Facebook pages of host regions and division offices, reaching over 50,000 teachers nationwide.
Learning from the experts
During the sessions, education experts and practitioners conduct training on subject matter and teaching techniques to further enhance teachers’ knowledge, skills, and capacities.
DepEd explained that the CPD-accredited master classes complement the revised curriculum and provide teachers with the tools needed for its effective implementation.
Through the National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), in collaboration with the Bureau of Curriculum Development (BCD) and the Bureau of Learning Delivery (BLD), DepEd has identified experts from higher education institutions (HEIs) and public and private universities to deliver comprehensive topics for educators.
Moreover, select regional and division offices have partnered to broadcast each session through Facebook Live, DepEd added.
National Educators Academy of the Philippines (NEAP) Director Jennifer Lopez said these master classes serve as a “testament” to teachers’ unwavering commitment to strengthening themselves as “pillars of education.”
“By immersing yourselves in this lofty pursuit, you are not only enhancing your skills but also deepening your capacity to guide, protect, and inspire your students,” Lopez said.
