21,492 families remain in evacuation centers after back-to-back typhoons — DSWD report

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said 21,492 families or 75,110 individuals, are still sheltered in evacuation centers following the devastation caused by Typhoon Nika, Super Typhoon Ofel, and Super Typhoon Pepito.

Based on the data from the DSWD-Disaster Response Operations Monitoring and Information Center, as of Tuesday, Nov. 26, 673 evacuation centers remain operational.

In addition, 13,132 families, or 46,141 people, have sought temporary shelter with friends or relatives outside the evacuation centers.

The DSWD said the back-to-back typhoons have affected 1,170,149 families or 4,318,543 individuals, across 7,992 barangays in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, and Eastern Visayas.

To date, the DSWD, local government units, and other partners have provided P405.74 million in humanitarian aid to affected families.

The DSWD also has P2.32 billion in resources, including P144.43 million in standby funds and P2.18 billion worth of food and non-food items ready for distribution.
